I actually disagree with Hillary Clinton on almost every issue: abortion, gay rights, judges, feminism, taxes, social security, nanny state idiocy, self-absorption, "it takes a village", etc. etc. etc. But the War on Islamofacism is the most important issue facing America and the world right now, and nothing else even comes close. Having a Democrat in the White House who will take that seriously, and does not merely think that the war is some right-wing invention, will be very helpful for the country. If a Republican wins in '08, which I think is very unlikely, the Democratic party will drift further to the left in its belief that the War on Terror is a Republican fantasy, and having a one-party war would be very detrimental to the country. If a left-wing Democrat wins, things will get really bad around the globe in short fashion, and we will have to wait for four years for a change in leadership, which I am not prepared to do.
And yes, I have completely bought in to Hillary Clinton's "I'm a moderate now" routine. Sorry. I think it's genuine, to the extent truth is something the Clintons have any relation to. Plus, she is a former Goldwater Girl, and for some reason that gives me a great deal of comfort. We need a bipartisan front to achieve victories against Islamofacists around the globe, and the only way to do that is have a Democratic president for a while who can take over the war on terror in a responsible manner, hopefully get some more allies on board in Iraq and Afghanistan and elsewhere if possible, and prevent the War on Terror from being a one-party endeavor.
